Gender Marking and Clitic Pronoun Resolution in Simultaneous Bilingual Children

The acquisition of clitics still remains a highly controversial issue in Greek literature despite the bulk studies performed. Object have been shown to be early acquired by monolingual children terms production rates, whereas only proficient bilingual achieve target-like performance. Crucially, errors gender marking are persistent for and even when adult-like rates achieved. This study aims readdress an innovative way, entering variable experimental design targeting assess processing children. Moreover, we examined role language proficiency (in general verbal intelligence syntactic abilities). groups had comparable performance both tasks correct responses error distribution reaction times comprehension). However, effect on but not group task, were overall slower comprehension task. Syntactic abilities did any effect. We argue that affects clitic processing, discuss implications our findings acquisition.
